Welcome to Ransom Canyon — Your New ‘Must Watch’ Guilty Pleasure!

Netflix’s Ransom Canyon is shaping up to be the kind of show that grabs hold and doesn’t let go — and at the heart of it is Niko Guardado, delivering a performance that’s as magnetic as it is grounded. While audiences first got a taste of his talent in the 2020 reboot of Party of Five, it’s in Ransom Canyon where Guardado fully comes into his own. With quiet intensity and an undeniable screen presence, he’s proving he’s not just one to watch — he’s the one you won’t be able to look away from.

What was it like working on Ransom Canyon?

I loved Ransom Canyon. Working on Ransom Canyon was awesome. It was my first shoot in Albuquerque, my first western, and it was just amazing.

It was a great group of people, great crew and, I’m ready for people to see it.

Was there a big prankster on set?

All of us, I guess.

It’s just all of us. I mean, we were doing night shoots, and so everybody’s pulling pranks because we’re just delirious by the time one, 2AM rolls around.

What was your favorite thing about filming in Albuquerque?

The sites, the sets.

I mean, it was just amazing. It was a a lot of nature, which I feel like it was unlike any other state I’ve ever been to.

Three words to describe your character?

Loyal, clumsy, and conflicted.

What’s the biggest thing you took away from working on ‘Ransom Canyon?’

I think the biggest thing I took away from it is just to laugh. Like, find things that you like and then laugh about it because it really shows up in the work.

Is there a song that reminds you of your time filming?

Probably have to be, ‘Not Like Us’ by Kendrick Lamar.

Talk about your audition for Ransom

I had originally auditioned for Reid, fell in love with the script, and then, Drew got it, who’s one of my good friends now. Then, Tim came into my inbox and I booked that, and I’m glad it worked out.

The audition process was very, post COVID, you know, sending in a self tape and then it was actually pretty quick that I got booked.

Which cast member of the show would survive the longest in the wild?

Probably Josh. I would say Josh would last the longest in the wild. I can tell you who wouldn’t last the longest, and that’s Lizzy! lol

Did you have a favorite scene to film for the show?

Yeah. Definitely the football scenes.

When you weren’t filming, what did you enjoy doing?

I enjoyed, hanging out with the cast. We watched movies, eat. We ate a lot.

Food there was actually pretty good too. It’s one of my other favorite things about Albuquerque, and just taking in being in a new place.
