Rory Gibson Tells Us A Few Of His FAV Things

Rory Gibson is making waves in the world of daytime television as he checks into Port Charles and joins the cast of General Hospital, taking on the legacy role of Michael Corinthos. Already met with overwhelming enthusiasm from fans, Gibson brings both fresh energy and proven talent to the long-running series. No stranger to daytime drama, Gibson previously made a memorable impression as a fan favorite on CBS’ ‘The Young and the Restless,’ and recently expanded his range in Zack Snyder’s sci-fi epic ‘Rebel Moon’ on AppleTV+. Gibson is seamlessly blending star power with soap opera tradition—ushering in an exciting new chapter for one of GH’s most pivotal characters. With his mix of charm, emotional range, and screen-stealing presence, Gibson is proving that whether it’s sci-fi or soap operas, he brings a magnetic energy. Rory stopped by the studio and we asked him a few of his Favorite Things for the fans to get to know him a little better.

Q: Favorite time of day?
I love that time right around 10 AM. It’s not too early where you’re feeling tired or groggy, but you still have the entire day ahead of you.

Q: Favorite candy?
Oof, favorite candy… that’s a rough one.
If I had to choose, it’s actually kind of a new one. My favorite used to be Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, but now they have these jumbo Reese’s with potato chips inside—and it’s a complete game changer.

Q: Favorite holiday?
Favorite holiday has always been a tough one for me—I’m kind of all over the place with it. But if I had to choose, it would be Halloween. I just love the vibe.

Q: What makes you happy?
There are a lot of things that make me happy, but if I had to pick the ones that make me happiest, it would be my fiancé Alicia, and my dogs, Cloud and Otis.

Q: What makes you mad?
That one’s a little harder. I don’t get mad very often, but I usually only really get upset when bad things happen to the people I care about.

Q: What makes you sad?
Same answer, really—when bad things happen to the people I care about.

Q: If you weren’t an actor, what would you be doing?
Dang. That’s a tough one. I always kinda knew I wanted to be an actor, so it’s hard to imagine doing something else. But if I weren’t acting, I’d probably be doing something that definitely doesn’t make me as happy.

Q: Favorite actor of all time?
h, the big question. Favorite actor of all time. I do have one that I would have to choose, but I have to give at least two honorary mentions. So I love Viggo Mortensen and I love Mads Mikkelsen.
I think they’re both incredible.
But if I had to choose just one? Tom Hardy.

Q: If you could be in any movie in history, what would it be?
That’s a great question. I’d say Purple Noon.
It’s kind of a random choice, but it’s the French/Italian version of The Talented Mr. Ripley. Such an incredible film.

Q: If you could have coffee with any actor—dead or alive—who would it be?
Might be an easy one, but I’d go with Daniel Day-Lewis. He’s such a method actor, and I have no idea what he’s actually like in real life. I don’t even know what he sounds like really. I’d like to just get to know him a little bit more, because we only have an idea of what all these actors are like from interviews, etc. I feel like he’s the one actor of our time right now that kinda still captures that extreme mystery where you just you don’t know anything about him.
Also, maybe Gary Oldman—because he’s a king.

Q: Favorite gift to give?
Oh, that’s a fun one. I always try to give something personal, something that really means something to the person. So it’s hard to name one specific thing, but I love creating or curating gifts that aren’t easy to come by—something unique to whoever’s receiving it.

Q: Favorite gift to receive?
I’m a little weird about receiving gifts—or even praise, honestly. Compliments kind of confuse me. I’m a big ‘Love Bug!’ Give me a hug to let me know you Love Me! lol

Q: Favorite album of all time?
That’s a really good one. There are so many great albums. Daydreams & Endless Nights by Justin Nozuka.
Perfect vibes, every song is incredible, and it’s wildly underrated.

Q: Song that always makes you want to dance?
The Seed 2.0 by The Roots. Every single time. It’s older, but if you know it, you know how good it is—and if you don’t, you need to listen to it. It just puts me in the best mood.

Q: Favorite TV show of all time?
That would be The Last Kingdom on Netflix. Incredible show. It also holds a special place for me because it’s something my dad and I really bonded over. One of the last things we really did together. It holds a really special place for me.

Q: Favorite TV couple of all time?
That one’s tough—but I’m gonna go with Johnny and Moira Rose from Schitt’s Creek. They’re ridiculous, over-the-top, and so lovable. I put off watching the show for a long time because of the hype, but when I finally did, it was totally worth it.

Q: What turns you off?
People who are disingenuous and lack empathy right from the start.
I like to give people chances.

Q: What turns you on?
I’m turned on by people being genuinely themselves—even if they’re funky, cool, or a little on the obscure side. Kindness and confidence really do it for me. I think that ties back to being comfortable in your own skin and doing your own thing.

Q: Talk about how important art and music are to you.
Art and music are incredibly important to me. Growing up in Bakersfield—after being born in LA—there wasn’t much of an art culture. It was very sports-driven. I was always into drawing, movies, anime, and stuff like that, but I had to keep those passions kind of quiet because my friends didn’t share them.
Now, as an adult, I can express myself freely. Art and music have opened me up and given me a life I really love. They’ve shaped who I am today.

Q: How important are dreams?
I think dreams are one of the most important things in life. If you’re not following your dreams and you’re settling for something that doesn’t bring you real joy, you’re missing out on true fulfillment.

Q: How relevant is fame to you?
I’m not big on fame. I don’t think it’s very relevant. What matters more is happiness—doing what you want to do and feeling successful in your own way. That’s what people should aim for, not fame.

Q: You get to the gates of Heaven, If there Is a God, What does He or She say to you?
I’d hope God would say, “Hey man, you made people feel better than they would have if they’d never met you.”
